Zombie Action at its Best

image

Lucky to have made it to his early twenties, Dave Pulaski wandered through life lost and drunk with his best friend Jim. Then came Holly. She made it her mission to clean him up. And he finally did it. Two years sober, Dave has plans for a family, a steady job and college.

One night Jim disappears, leaving a grisly trail of animal carcasses and murdered bodies. Now Missy, the woman Dave cheated with, threatens to destroy not only his marriage but his sobriety. Between Missy’s jealous demands for attention and the police investigation focused on Jim’s disappearance, Dave’s neatly ordered world quickly spirals out of control.

Amid the wreckage of Dave’s personal life, a contagion brings chaos to his hometown of Tres Marias. The condition, known as “the jimmies,” infects hundreds and kills quickly. But the dead find no rest. They rise as ravenous flesh-eaters.

Dave soon learns that “not all draggers want to eat your flesh, some want revenge.” And Jim and Missy, both infected, each want something from Dave.

The quarantine of Tres Marias creates hell on Earth. Badly outnumbered security forces are no match for the growing hordes of undead.

Follow Dave, Holly and a small band of heavily armed soldiers and civilians as they fight to survive looters, paramilitary nut jobs and the zombie apocalypse.

If the zombies don’t kill them, the wackos surely will. Nowhere is safe.

Our Thoughts
Tell Me When I’m Dead is an excellent book! The flawed and even reluctant hero is an excellent plus. He’s a real guy with real issues. Yet, he still finds a way to redeem his past and move forward in a time of tribulation.  The action is high and the relationships forged are touching. There is even a hint of romance in the air. What more can you ask for in an excellent story? Overall,  I’m giving this one a 4.5 star rating it is worth a read.

Grim Angels vs Death Angels

Ember X by Jessica Sorenson is recommended for ages 17+ and I would have to agree due to the darkness of the book. There are instances of underage drinking, drug use, and depression.

Ok it has been awhile since I have read a book that caused me to be in awe of how it is written. It had my mind spinning! I loved it!

Ember is a 19 year old girl who can see death omens, meaning if she touches someone she can see how they are going to die and when it will happen. The only person who knows this is her best friend Raven, who is very colorful (pink hair). Ember is a person who would rather be alone so at night sometimes she goes to the cemetery to write dark poetry. While there she stumbles across a guy digging up a grave and gets chased by the police, in the process she drops her journal of poems. The next night Raven shows up to convince Ember to attend a party with her. Ember reluctantly agrees, while there she meets a guy who is beyond hot and makes her feel things she has never felt before without him even touching her! She agrees to dance with him and is so wrapped up in what she is feeling when she opens her eyes he is gone! So she looks for Raven and sees that she is on hear way out the door with a guy who is completely drunk. She races after her and somehow (I really know how but don’t want to spoil it) ends up in the lake.

Asher jumps in to save her and takes her home, where Raven has made it to. This is where things start to get a little strange and twisted. Ember wakes up the next morning and sees the guy that Raven left with standing outside her house. When she tells Raven she shrugs her shoulders and blows it off and tells convinces Ember to go shopping with her. On the way to the mall they meet the new guy moving in down the street who also happens to be the guy who was digging up the grave.

His name is Cameron the best way to describe him is the golden boy looks. After meeting both Asher and Cameron she starts to see weird things and raven feathers start appearing places and people start dying. Ember starts to learn about Death Angels, Reapers and Grim Angels and what they have in connection to what is happening in her little town and what has happened to her family and friends.

With all the details and the twist in the story I couldn’t stop reading it! I give this book 5 mind blowing stars and I hope there are more books to follow!!

Our Thoughts
What can I say about this book… it was beyond words. This book caused me to have a book hangover for almost 2 weeks!!! It is so emotionally moving that I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. So now that we have my outlook on it out of the way let me tell you a little about this book.

Candace is the strong heroine of the book, she is a college girl whose works because she wants the responsibliity not because she has to. Kimber is her best girlfriend, Jason (Jase) is her best friend, Mark is Jase’s boyfriend ok now you’ve met the inital people in the book. Candace and her mom do not get along at all, they butt heads at every turn including what Candace is going to major in, which is ballet. Candace is planning on graduating and going to join a dance company in New York.

To make her mom happy she accepts a date from a guy at the country club while her mom watches. As dates go it is ok, not bad but not great so she decides to give it a couple more tries. In the next couple of dates some things happen that change her life forever! It causes her to start depending on Jase A LOT! She tells him everything and runs to him at the slightest issue. Her dancing is affected and as she is getting ready for her big solo piece that is dark and very emotional and requires total concentration and feeling. So much feeling that she isn’t sure she can do it.

While Jase and Mark love her and completely understand what is going on with her they both know she needs to start getting out with people again. So they take her to a private concert with a small number of people and she meets Ryan. A guy who has a connecction to her past but neither one knows it. They both have issues that they need to work through to help them both move on through their pasts.
I give this 5+ stars hands down, you have to read this one!

Seduced in the Dark by C.J. Roberts

“Seduced in the Dark” by C.J. Roberts is the end of Livvie’s story continued from “Captive in the Dark.” Please if you haven’t read the first book this review may contain spoilers from book one. Please click here for my review on that book.

This book takes place 3 months after the first book. Livvie is in an institution, and telling her story to FBI Agent Matthew Reed. He is trying to find out the who, what, where, why, and how’s of crimes committed including; kidnapping, assault, rape, murder, gun, drug, and slave trafficking just to name a few. A few of the people suspected include Livvie and Caleb, her kidnapper turned rescuer. Livvie loves Caleb at this point and is dying emotionally because she doesn’t know if he is still alive. All she knows is he’s not with her and it tears her apart. As she tells of the torture she went through we see a tale of horror. Yet there is a silver lining Caleb shows an amazing changing of heart as he stars to feel something for Livvie. Then Rafiq, Caleb’s partner and father figure, comes back into the immediate picture and brings those feelings into question. With the owner of Caleb’s loyalty near, does Caleb find out things that cause the relationship with Rafiq to erode? Does true love win out? Why is Livvie free, but still a prisoner to Caleb? Will she ever break free?
You will find out all these things as you finish the last installment of the Dark Duet. The end of this 5 shimmering tears story, is worth the tears, anger, emotional traumas, and angst, these books caused me. I will forever be twisted from reading these but I will never regret that I did.
