Ella is a college student whose life was on track & everything is going great until her parents die in a car crash leaving her with a mountain of debt. She has to put everything up for sale & get a job to save for her next year of college & her rent.

She gets a barely minimum wage job that pays the bills but doesn’t quite cover her food cost. So her friends tell her that she needs a new job & they have the perfect job for her a bartender at a club. She at first doesn’t want the job but changes her mind.

Dace has a bad reputation as a player, never sleeps with the same woman twice and very violent, he is also part owner of the club. Ella unknowingly runs into him in the school parking lot. When she goes for the interview he dismisses her as to innocent. Ella not being put off Gore’s and lays down her circumstances and gets a probation period at the club.

Dace finds her to be refreshing and different since she doesn’t want to sleep with him or change him. He decides they are going to be friends, which shocks everyone because Dace doesn’t have girl friends.

As time goes on their friendship grows but like all relationships if they aren’t building on the truth or trust things will start to crumble. This book has the bad boys, it has mystery, it has romance and it has the classic good girl in it. I loved it! I rate this book with 5 stars!

A Tale of Two Kingdoms by Victoria Danann

My Familiar Stranger Review
The Witch’s Dream Review
Moonlight Excerpt
Gathering Storm Review

Our Thoughts
A Tale Of Two Kingdoms was your typical Romeo and Juliet tale with a twist. We loved the tenacity of Duff and Song in their journey to be together. For the families to get on the same page and find a way to support them was wonderful to see. A few obstacles were hurddled and a few road blocks were removed.  Here you find the happily ever after that Black Swan fans have been waiting for. This sweet novella ranks a solid 4,5 in my books.

AUTHOR BIO:

If you’re looking for something new and different in PNR, you’ve come to the right place.

I write unapologetic romances with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners – usually – whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

I have authored and illustrated Seasons of the Witch calendars and planners for fifteen years and teach magickal arts for Seasons in Avalon. I live in The Woodlands, Texas which is why I sometimes joke about being the witch in the woods.

A Girl, A Guy, and A Ghost

image

As this book’s title says there is a girl, a guy and a ghost but also a few other characters. A French man who reminds you of Pepe Le Pew (you know the cartoon skunk who follows the black cat around), a Madam fortune teller, a supposed vampire & a wizard.

Giselle is a journalist for a ghosthunter magazine who has an assignment in Savannah the most haunted city. Her best friend decides to set her up on a blind date with Vector (Pepe) in the pretense of it being an interview about a ghost. When she realizes it is a date she leave only to have him follow. In the process of leaving she runs into the most gorgeous guy she has seen. Vector insists they are in a relationship so he leaves. Giselle irritated tells Vector off & decides to go on a ghost tour. On the tour with a drunk tour guide who makes up her stories she meets the man again only this time she dumps her & his drinks all over him. He gets mad & leaves.

The next day her friend meets her & apologizes over for setting her up with Vector. To make up for it she sends her to a private investigator’ s office which just happens to be th  gorgeous guy whom she keeps knocking over. Rylan is not happy yo see her and pretty much tells her to leave when she brings up looking for a ghost. So on a tight time table she goes to see Madam Divinity to see if she can find her a ghost to investigate. There she make a enemy when she gets upset about being told about her love life & accidentally breaks Madam’ s crystal ball in two.

She ends up going to a hotel/restaurant that is suppose to be haunted & runs into Ry while he is meeting with a client. She takes their picture & runs from him. She runs into a room thinking it is the bathroom but in fact is a very small closet with Ry pressed tight against her. Here things get steamy and when they get out he agrees to help her. Especially when he finds out about the death threats against her.

There are so many twists and turns in this book that it keeps you guessing. Giselle seems to draw trouble with every turn, with Ry to help figure it out.

Great book, I give it a 4.5 stars.

Reclaimed Trilogy

image

Reclaimed is a trilogy of novellas Released, Redeemed & Reluctant.

This series is about 3 sisters who after the middle sister Kylah refused Laird Angus’ hand in marriage because he was a cruel man. He raped her in front of her mother then doused her sisters in whiskey &set them on fire to kill them. There mother who survived bargained with the banshee queen to bring her daughters back for vengeance.

Released is about Kartriona. She goes to Laird Angus’ twin brother Rory to kill him as her part of killing off Angus’ blood line. When she gets there ready for vengeance all her banished screaming does is make him fall to the ground & cover his ears. Her touch brings him pleasure which should bring him pain. Rory feeling guilty about what was done secretly paid to have his brother & father killed. So their vengeance is gone. While Katriona is trying to kill him Rory is planning on getting married to save the clan, so he doesn’t love his bride he is in love with his banshee whose time is limited to 3 months before she is a slave to the banshee queen.

Reclaimed is Kylah’s story. When asked how she feels about the turn of events in Katriona’s life she realizes that she hasn’t had time to grieve for herself, she has never raised her voice or felt any feelings. As she is off getting space she feel anguish, sadness & rage so she goes to find it & meets the Druid, Daroch McLoed. He wants nothing to do with her but she follows him around like a 2 year old always asking “why”.  As as he is following him she sees he is working with metals and impresses him with her knowledge & offers him the use of her father’s shop. She takes him there but refuses to go in the back room with the tools. He looks for an explanation & learns what happened to her. He later shows her the difference between being raped & what she could feel.

Reluctant is about Kamdyn. She was the youngest she didn’t get the chance to experience life. She in fact becomes the hand maiden to the banshee queen an  for the most part is perfectly happy. Until she goes to a meeting between the clans who are asking the queen to kill a berserker. She is attracted to their size & physical characteristics. The queen decides to send Kamdyn, who has never killed anyone or screamed, to kill Soren The Laird of Shadows. When she finds him she causes his berserker to come out but instead of trying to rip her to pieces he kisses her. Soren who is a big bad ass is shocked and amazed and mated for life…however long that may be. This story is my favorite probably because  it reminds me of beauty and the beast!

I loved all of these stories! I give this trilogy 5 stars. It is very well written the time lines in the book are seamless so it all flows from book to book like a new chapter.

Grim Angels vs Death Angels

image

Ember X by Jessica Sorenson is recommended for ages 17+ and I would have to agree due to the darkness of the book. There are instances of underage drinking, drug use, and depression.

Ok it has been awhile since I have read a book that caused me to be in awe of how it is written. It had my mind spinning! I loved it!

Ember is a 19 year old girl who can see death omens, meaning if she touches someone she can see how they are going to die and when it will happen. The only person who knows this is her best friend Raven, who is very colorful (pink hair). Ember is a person who would rather be alone so at night sometimes she goes to the cemetery to write dark poetry. While there she stumbles across a guy digging up a grave and gets chased by the police, in the process she drops her journal of poems. The next night Raven shows up to convince Ember to attend a party with her. Ember reluctantly agrees, while there she meets a guy who is beyond hot and makes her feel things she has never felt before without him even touching her! She agrees to dance with him and is so wrapped up in what she is feeling when she opens her eyes he is gone! So she looks for Raven and sees that she is on hear way out the door with a guy who is completely drunk. She races after her and somehow (I really know how but don’t want to spoil it) ends up in the lake.

Asher jumps in to save her and takes her home, where Raven has made it to. This is where things start to get a little strange and twisted. Ember wakes up the next morning and sees the guy that Raven left with standing outside her house. When she tells Raven she shrugs her shoulders and blows it off and tells convinces Ember to go shopping with her. On the way to the mall they meet the new guy moving in down the street who also happens to be the guy who was digging up the grave.

His name is Cameron the best way to describe him is the golden boy looks. After meeting both Asher and Cameron she starts to see weird things and raven feathers start appearing places and people start dying. Ember starts to learn about Death Angels, Reapers and Grim Angels and what they have in connection to what is happening in her little town and what has happened to her family and friends.

With all the details and the twist in the story I couldn’t stop reading it! I give this book 5 mind blowing stars and I hope there are more books to follow!!

A New Favorite: Zoey Rogue

image
Goodreads Blurb:
** Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual situations, language and mature subject matter **

He only needs three nights to make her his …

With more heart than sense, fearless, beautiful Zoey has saved countless college-aged women from horrifying deaths at the hands of supernatural sadists. She may be a mere half-succubus in a society that views half-breeds with derision, but she still retains the highest rescue rate of any Hunter in the Sucubatti society.

As the calm, disciplined leader of the Incubatti Enforcers, Declan is the polar opposite of Zoey – and the sworn enemy of her society. Forced to rescue her one night, Declan realizes two things: he doesn’t need someone as wild and independent as Zoey in his life – and he can’t live without her.

In this world, there’s only one incubus for every sucubatti and Zoey and Declan are stuck with each other. They’re just as likely to kill each other as they are to yield to each other’s sex magic.

She has authority issues and drinks too much. He is the irresistibly sexy incubus pre-ordained to tame her. Neither can fight their intense attraction, and yet trusting each other is out of the question.

What happens when their worlds crash down around them?

Strike three. You’re mine.
Our Thoughts
I just finished Zoey Rogue by Lizzy Ford.  All I can say is I think I found a new favorite author! The story was absolutely thrilling. Hot romance, action, and a little bit of intrigue filled these pages. Zoey was a fun character to get to know, her irreverent attitude towards everything considered normal in her world was funny. I Can’t Wait for Zoey Avenger! This was a five star read all the way! ~Crys
